Outdoor Education and Science Camp
Summary
A wonderful program designed to create a positive change in students’ perception of the natural environment through hands-on, experience-based education and unique camp experience.
Curriculum
Students thrive in nature because it inspires creativity and drives curiosity. The hope is that students leave science school with new friendships, new knowledge, and a new understanding of themselves. Outdoor education incorporates several key elements: hands-on science, learning through community, and being engaged and inspired by instructors. Life Outdoors courses are designed to engage individual students through community; a safe place to ask questions, explore nature, and have fun!
Director
Aaron Ryssemus
EDUCATION: B.A. in Camp Administration
Aaron first begin teaching outdoor education in 2009. Within four years, he had already become director of the entire program.
Aaron’s passion for outdoor education grew, his vision became more refined, and he soon realized that more could be done to kindle a curiosity and love for learning within the students. With that as a goal, he made the decision to take outdoor science education to the next level and launched LIFE OUTDOORS.
As the director of a different outdoor education program, I learned quickly that the administrative process can make or break a program. When creating LifeOutdoors, I didn’t want to repeat the mistakes of the past. Instead, I went on a journey with the purpose of creating the best administrative process in outdoor education. Does that sound like an exciting journey? Well, you might be surprised by what I discovered. I had to admit that I needed to improve, learn, and grow.

Tony Goodwin, Master Artist
National Award-Winning Fine Artist and Private Educator, specializing in the classical approach to portraiture in oil. Tony has trained under Master Painters Frank Covino and Igor Babailov. His talents include portraits, murals, oil painting, acrylic paintings, pastels, graphite pencil drawings, illustration, cartooning and charicatures, sculptures, set design, graphic design, compact disc covers and much more.
“God has never let me forget the design that He has for my life. Sure, I thought I knew better and chose a life in the music world, instead. I dabbled with my art on the side. It was still a major part of me and I would sell portraits and paintings here and there. With digital downloads looming, the music distribution industry began its collapse and, in 2008, I found myself unemployed and undesirable in the workforce. At age 50, I had to decide what I was going to be when I grew up. I cried out to God and, well, He has never let me forget the design He has for my life.” – Tony Goodwin
